Aloha, OR—The Golf Channel Amateur Tour held the inaugural Pacific Northwest Major Championship this past weekend at the Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club. Players competed on the North Course on Saturday and the South Course on Sunday under cold, wet, and somewhat windy conditions.
Kirk Saarloos asserted himself as arguably the top player on Tour in the Northwest and perhaps in the western region after a very impressive performance over the weekend. Saarloos fired rounds of 70 and 72 to win the championship at 2-under par 142 and in doing so became the 1st player on Tour this season to complete a Major Championship under-par. Brian Lomeli of Gilroy, CA had a very strong showing and opened up with a fine 1-under par 71 on Saturday. Lomeli locked up 2nd place with a final round of 74 to finish the championship at +1 (145). Local standout Matt Lemman of Lake Oswego tied for the low final round, firing an even-par 72 to qualify for the 2010 National Championship. Lemman rounded out the top 3 at +2 (146).
