My Father Loved Port:
LIQUID JOY!
20 YEARS IN THE MAKING.

THE ORIGIN STORY: 20 YEARS AGO:,
We were picking some grapes for our customers.
This was WAY BEFORE ANYTHING. We were just farmers, selling our songs to wineries.  We had a ton or 2 of grapes left in the field. We called one of our customers and asked if they would like it.
I brought them a sample, and they said, "WOW, this would be an awesome PORT."

I asked if they knew how to make it?
They said Ill show you...

THIS IS THAT PORT.

THE GOOD PART :
My Father used to like to serve port in these tiny glasses my great-grandmother had.
Delicate, Glass Thimbles.
A little Glass Bell.

He called them the Communion Glasses.

He would ensure everyone had them in their hands and walk to each person, pouring out the thimble of liquid, inky, port, right up to the brim.

Once everyone's glass was full, he would hold his up high, smile, and tilt his head back.
Everyone would do the same.
He would let out a deep sigh and say, Lordy, that is TOOOOOO GOOOOD.

And head back out to fill everyone's glass again,
Smiling, Laughing, and Emptying his bottle into your glass.

My Father, Loved... Community. He Loved Communion.
He loved it the Communion of sharing or exchanging of thoughts openly and honestly.
He loved it in the Communion of being still in nature and witnessing its silent marvels.
He loved it in the Communion of Spirit in Ritual and meaningful acts.

When my father was working in a room with an open bottle of Port during the holidays.
It felt like the only room you ever had wanted to be in.
No matter who was there, he had given you a thimble of glass that he was ready to pour his joy into.
He would shine his spotlight on you.
You would Feel its Warmth.
He would infect you with his excitement.
And when he tilt his head back that delicious ink would fill your senses.
It felt like drinking Joy.

IT FELT LIKE DRINKING JOY.

When I thought what name would be perfect for 2 Decades worth of time waiting to share this Liquid Joy.

Communion was the only answer.

I cant wait to fill everyone's cup for you.

enJOY.

So, I put them up on the website and ran the price down as low as possible.
- THE PRICE is 50$
YES ONLY 50$

Sometimes, knowing everyone will have a full glass is more important than anything else I can think of.

- Not too bad for keeping them safe for TWO DECADES in a temperature-controlled environment.

HERE IS TO YOU DAD.

But we have been patiently waiting to release this one.

You rarely think you are making history while you are making it.
But I remember the day we picked this wine. It was just me and my dad down in the Ballard Block on Windmill Ranch. I even remember what we were talking about. A PORT, this port, and how unbelievable it would be to drink it a Decade from now….

When I stop to think about how much life has changed in the last 20 years, I am buckled at the knees. I held this bottle in my hands and thought of the last 20 years and what has taken place. I was reminded of the Naive Enthusiasm and the crushing self-doubt. Running headstrong into things we had no business doing and having to learn what and how to do it along the way.  The long nights and freezing mornings. The months of harvests and all of the people we have met and become friends and Family with. How we never thought about having a winery or a tasting room. My kids were born and are now off to College and High School.
I am humbled by the passage of time.

And all the while this wine was sitting quietly.
Waiting for this day.
Waiting to be shared.

It is odd how every day we go through life, it feels like nothing has changed, and then you look back over the last decade and it seems that Everything Has.

Getting to hold ten years in your hands is a rare gift.
I am Honored to share it with You.
Please share it with someone you love.
&
Make some History.

To the Next Decade.

Honor + Prepare
