- LOOS BUBBLES -

A Sparkling Rosé - 10 Years In The Making

Once every decade we release a Sparkling Wine.
This is that Release.

ONE LAST CATCH - WITH POP

Yes- That is my Father’s L

This wine represents the final project between my father and I.
This wine was completely his idea.
It started, as all good things did, on a late afternoon in the Vineyard.
It was the end of our day, and I was pulling up to him,
I remember that was standing by his old truck.
We were at the entrance to the Elcamino Real Vineyard in the Grenache Noir Bloc.

Out of nowhere as I approached,
He held up his hands like a conductor about to lead an orchestra and said..
”I have 2 words for you.. - LOOS BUBBLES-
The People are going to love it….

Now, now until this exact moment did I even think of making another Sparkling Wine.
Standing there in the Grenache Noir Vines, it somehow seemed like a very good idea, in a way that ideas seem to, when someone you love says it in just the right way, and you are in the right place to receive it.

I had not really heard of someone making a sparkling rose out of Grenache Noir.
But, as we talked, we both convinced each other that our Rosé is pretty good and everyone that tries it, usually ends up buying a bottle or 2.
So, why wouldn't a sparkling Grenache rosé be any different?

Ok, Pop. Loos Bubbles it is…
”Yeah Baby!” He yelled and clapped his hands….
“It’s a Winner, The People Will Love It.”

I have been sitting on this wine for about a year…I haven’t felt ready to release it….
I’ve been drinking it. So have people I love.
It is the best wine we have ever made.
I just haven’t released it….
Just Holding On, I guess…..

I told myself that if I could have one last conversation with my father,
Standing out there in the vineyard…
Just Me and Him.
And I could fill him in on everything that has happened since he has been gone.
Tell him how Everyone is doing.

And, at the End of that conversation, if my father would:
Shake my hand, Say Good Job, I’m Proud of you.

I would Let Go.

Today is my Birthday.
I am 46 Years Old.
I take stock of myself every day.
I track the progress.

I am a better man today than the day my Father left Us.
I am proud of who I have become.
I am proud of my Family.

It’s time to let it go.
It is a Winner
The People Love It.

Take a look under the Cork when you POP it.
It was made for you.

WHAT MAKES THIS WINE SO ABSURDLY SPECIAL?

When I was a kid someone told me that when the space shuttle comes back to earth it does so without power. It is a glider. A controlled fall from space onto a little piece of asphalt out in the desert.
That fact blew my mind.
Dropping a basketball from space and swishing it through the hoop. (just a little bigger)
That is what this wine is…
We “simply” picked it at just the right moment and let it fall from space.
Zero Dosage / Made in the Brute Nature Style
- What does that mean?
Well, it means it is minimal in it’s intervention.
Brut nature means contains less than 3 grams of sugar per litre. Thus, It is at the pinnacle of dryness.
However, because of the nature of the grape, and its fundamental taste on the day it was picked, it still retains a sense of the sweetness of the fruit.
This is no easy task.
This is 100% dumb luck, or that we are so intimately connected to our farming that we can pick up on the most subtle of nuances and we pulled the trigger and the perfect moment….

Zero Dosage wines might just be the purest example of terroir -( the complete natural environment in which a particular wine is produced, including factors such as the soil, topography, and climate. allowing the characteristic taste and flavor imparted to a wine by the environment in which it is produced.) a sparkling house can offer.

In simple terms, there are a few ingredients that typically go into a sparkling wine: grapes, yeast, and sugar. The last part comprises dosage and is usually a blend of wine and sugar syrup or concentrated grape juice, intended to balance out the Champagne, which may otherwise be highly acidic and dry.
But when you do it right, and I mean REALLY right, you don’t need to do anything at all.

Remember when I told you about the space shuttle falling from space onto a little piece of asphalt out in the dessert.

This is that, In the wine world.
